Battlefield 3 Not On Steam. Reason ? Valve TOS.

It’s almost confirmed that EA won’t be launching Battlefield 3 on Steam. Initially everyone went with their gut that it was the launch of Origin that has made EA change its digital distribution priorities but in fact, it’s not the case.
It’s a small clause of Valve’s ToS agreement according which publishers can only introduce patches, DLCs and any other updates through Steam rather than the game-specific client.
Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. No other download service has adopted these practices
There are already a couple of games that have been withdrawn from Steam due to the conflict between the two and now one of the biggest games of the year won’t make it to the renowned distributing platform. Business wise, this will help EA in publicizing their new download service, “Origin”.
It’s a smart move as far as I can see. Let’s face it, be it Origin or Steam, you would definitely want to buy a game of Battlefield 3 caliber. All EA needs now is to have customer friendly support. Thoughts ?
